White Sand Beach resorts, hotels and bungalows have a good mix of accommodation, with two upscale resorts, several large mid-range spots, plenty of bungalows, the odd motel and a backpacker enclave.
White Sand Beach itself is usually split into two halves, with a natural division at the point where the sandy beach, the northern end, gives way to the rocks and cliffs, the southern end.
Practically, dividing up the beach also helps you and us get a handle on things, given the sheer number of hotels and rooms available, in what is the most developed and touristy area on Koh Chang.

High End and Mid Range – White Sand Beach Resorts (Northern End)
KC Grande Resort and Kacha Resort are the pick of the upmarket White Sand Beach resorts at this northern end.
KC Resort is up among the best hotels on the island, offering 5 different swimming pools, luxurious accommodation on the beach, rooms by the pool and a modern 5 storey block on the opposite side of the road. Its standard deluxe rooms start at 4,350bt with the top of the range seaside villas at 9,980bt.
3 Star
Kacha Resort is more in the 3/4 star category, with villa rooms on the seaside, hotel rooms on the mountain-side and 2 swimming pools. Prices range from 2,700bt for a hilside room to 5,500bt for a beachfront chalet.
Also worth a look at this higher end, The Erawan Koh Chang offers 35 rooms from 3,800bt with a rooftop pool and well reviewed service.
2 Star
Cookies Hotel, Koh Chang Lagoon Resort (White Sand Princess) and Alina Hotel are the largest of the 2 star White Sand Beach resorts. Their rooms are arranged either in two and three storey blocks on the beachside or on the mountainside of the road. Prices range from 1,600bt a night to 3,000bt upwards.
Banpu Resort has a much more natural feel to it, large elaborate thatch roofed bungalows in a tropical garden, little pathways connecting things together and a small (but old) swimming pool looking out over the sand. Their superior rooms are 2,000bt a night, bungalows at 2,500bt and family suites at 3,750bt.
From around 1,500bt a night upwards, Apple Resort and Bamboo Resort are a couple of 2 star smaller resorts right on the beach. Their neighbours in this stretch, Tantawan Resort and Sang Arun Bungalows, themselves unchanged in many years, offer prices from 2,000bt.

Bamboo @ Koh Chang

Compact 2 star resort with swimming pool. 36 a/c rooms, bathrooms, superior and standard, pool views or seaviews. Bar and restaurant area overlooking the sea, with the beach on the doorstep. WiFi.
Apple Beachfront Resort

Sea-side
Next door to Bamboo Resort, another small resort with swimming pool. 50 a/c rooms in different configurations, by the pool and with seaviews. Restaurant, bar on the beach. Wifi.
Smaller Resorts and Motels – White Sand Beach Resorts (Northern End)
On the Beach
At the very end of the beach, indeed it actually has its own precariously steep street leading off the mountain for car access, sits White Sand Beach Resort, bungalows at reasonable rates, 1,300bt to 3,000bt (family, 4 persons), on the sand, a good dark-horse choice.
15 Palms has deluxe rooms overlooking the pool right on the beach, with a standard deluxe from 3,500bt. Palm Garden Hotel on the other side of the road is the original accommodation, still well maintained, open and a bit cheaper.
Mountain-side
A la Maison (formerly Jinda) and Arunee are two other compact resorts between KC Grande’s mountain-side block and Palm Garden. Both combine rooms in 2 storey blocks with their older bungalows/rooms and decent restaurants roadside, with A la Maison also boasting a pool. Prices in the 1,500bt to 2,500bt range.
A little further along and next door to The Erawan (see above), the budget hotel The Grand Koh Chang offers rooms over 3 floors, prices in peak from 2,000bt to 2,500bt. Across the road, its sister accommodation, the long established Sangtawan Resort has bungalows either beachside or in the area behind. Rates are similar to The Grand. It also has a good restaurant.
Places such as SP Place and Baan Sai Khao, up by the road, offer yet another option with good value, clean rooms in a more motel-style setting. Prices start at 1,500bt for a double.
Sai Khao Inn (Facebook as Saikhaoinn) also sits mountain side in its own little garden, with rooms and bungalows, some with seaview, from around 1,000 to 1,500bt a night. They added Sahngad Camping, with cafe and great viewpoint in 2023.
Southern End
Also on the seafront, Du Talay Hotel is a stylish small 3 star boutique offering whose brushed concrete rooms start at 2,500bt for a superior double rising to 4,000bt for its deluxe seaview room with spa jacuzzi bath.
White Sand Beach Resort

At the far northern end, accessed by a steep road as you cross the mountain or by walking to the very end of the beach. Bungalows in different styles, family rooms and suites. all laid out just off the sand. Restaurant and activities.
15 Palms (and Palm Garden)

Long running resort on White Sand Beach with practical hotel block on the mountain-side and 8 nicely designed boutique rooms in a small building overlooking the sea. A great little swimming pool sits next to to the very popular hang-out restaurant. It’s also now home to the Irish pub, Paddy’s Palms, which moved from its original location at the southern end of the area.
Du Talay Resort

Boutique style hotel at the end of the sandy part of the beach by the beach walkway. Just 21 rooms over 3 floors, with deluxe jacuzzi specials at the front complete with terrific views over the ocean. Brushed concrete, light and airy rooms finished to high standard. Restaurant at the front overlooking the beach.
Sai Khao Inn (Saikhaoinn)

Mountain-side
Good little resort tucked away on the mountain-side behind the main street, with standard and superior rooms and bungalows, either in rows around the garden or up on the hilltop (with seaviews). Added Sahngad Camping and Cafe with viewpoint in 2023.

Backpacker Bungalows – White Sand Beach (Northern End)
On the Beach
An historical hangover from the early days of Koh Chang, when longboats used to deliver travellers to this beach, the backpacker quarter is right on the sand at the northern end, just a little on from KC Grande.
Each spot has rooms built into the cliff-face with cheap (500bt+), fan, shared bathrooms at Pen’s Bungalows, Chang Bar (though much was destoyed in a landslide, rainy season 22) and Starbeach, an eclectic atmosphere at Bo Independent, chilled out at Malyamean and some sturdier and more expensive choices at Rock Sand Resort, though it is showing its age a little.
At high tide, the sea does encroach a fair bit, so you might get wet walking back and forth from the action on the main street, but it’s a great ongoing alternative to the larger resorts elsewhere.
Inland
You will also find a few cheap and peaceful White Sand Beach guesthouses from 700bt a night along a little street that runs inland next to Kacha Resort. Tuk Tuk Guesthouse and Fisherman Hill Resort are the pick of the bunch, with Island Lodge, now back open, one of the area’s longest running guesthouses. Pingpong’s House, ahandful of rooms over two storeys is at the far end – about 7 minutes walk to the street and beach.
Southern End
Next door to the southern end beach walkway (and Du Talay), Sabai Beach Guesthouse has a single row of decent a/c rooms leading from its front desk to the sea, prices around 700bt to 900bt a night.
Maylamean Bungalows

12 simple fan bungalows built against the cliff in the backpacker area, some with shared bathroom and cold water, some with their own bathroom and hot water. Nice hang-out restaurant high up on stilts. WiFi.
Independent Bo

Long established backpacker haunt with fan bungalows built into the rockface and an artist inspired hang-out restaurant with a lively evening bar. No children and 3 night minimum stay. Walk in only. WiFi.

SP Place

Next door to The Grand, SP Place offers 12 rooms, all a/c, with tv and ensuite bathroom in a two storey hotel style building by the road. Its in-house restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, coffee and there’s a cocktail bar on the front. Walk across the road to reach the beach.
The Grand Koh Chang Hotel

At the northern end, The Grand comprises 34 rooms, all a/c and ensuite, with small indoor pool and breakfast available. It’s the sister hotel to Sangtawan Resort on the beach across the street.
Sangtawan Resort

One of White Sand Beach’s older bungalow resorts, with a selection of standard concrete a/c beachside and others in a compact grid behind. Good restaurant, right in the heart of the action. Car parking. WiFi.
Cookies Hotel

Variety of standard and deluxe rooms by the sea, pool or in the three storey complex on the other side of the road. Swimming pool. Popular restaurant at Sea and Soul. Very mixed reviews among the Koh Chang hotels.
Grand Lagoon

Older style hotel with standard, superior, deluxe rooms or villas by the sea and in the complex on the opposite side of the road known as the White Sands Princess. The in-house restaurant serves one of the best beachfront BBQs. Swimming pool with kids’ slide and the lively Himmel Beach Bar.
Alina Grande

Good value hotel on the mountain side, offering a selection of a/c single and twin rooms, all ensuite. Swimming pool, restaurant and bar. Minimart, motorbike rental. Across the road to the beach.
