Island hopping between Koh Chang, Koh Kood, Koh Mak and Koh Wai is very easy, with services provided by Bang Bao Boats, Kai Bae Huts Nor Nou and Boonsiri.
Bang Bao Boats and Kai Bae Huts Nor Nou run daily speedboats in each direction, whereas Boonsiri uses a larger catamaran. Bang Bao Boats also offers a slower wooden passenger boat.
These services do not run during the low (rainy) season. The wooden boat stops from mid May to the middle of October. The speedboats stop from the start of May to the beginning/middle of November. The catamaran stops from the start of June to the end of September.

Bang Bao Boats – Koh Chang Island Hopping
Bang Bao Boats leave from Bang Bao on Koh Chang, the speedboat at 12.00 and the wooden boat at 09.00. Returns from Koh Kood are at 09.00 and 13.00 respectively.
On Koh Chang, there is a free share shuttle taxi transfer from your resort (up to White Sand Beach) to Bang Bao Pier or the reverse if arriving. For Klong Son (Siam Royal View/Blue Haven Bay), it’s 100bt per person. If staying on the east coast – Dan Khao, then the price is on enquiry.
Speedboat – Bang Bao Boats
The speedboat stops at the pier at Koh Mak Resort on Ao Suan Yai Beach, north west coast on Koh Mak. At Koh Kood, it delivers you direct to your resort.
On arrival at Koh Mak, your resort normally picks you up or you use one of the local taxis, 50bt per person, minimum charge 100bt. For departure, ask your resort to drop you at Koh Mak Resort.
Arriving at Koh Kood, if delivery is not possible direct to your resort, the speedboat drops you at the nearest pier and they provide a free share shuttle taxi to your resort. Going the other way, it’s the same system in reverse.
Wooden Slow Boat – Bang Bao Boats
The wooden passenger ferry boat docks at Koh Klum, Koh Wai Paradise Pier on Koh Wai, Koh Mak Resort Pier on Koh Mak and Nam Luek Pier, Ao Tapao Beach on Koh Kood.
At Koh Wai, you walk to your resort along the coastal path or if staying at Koh Wai Beach Resort, you organise your own collection beforehand. It’s the same system in reverse for departure.
On arrival at Koh Mak, your resort normally picks you up or you use one of the local taxis, 50bt per person, minimum charge 100bt. For departure, ask your resort to drop you at Koh Mak Resort.
At Koh Kood, there is a free share shuttle taxi to your resort, same in reverse for departure. You should always confirm this when booking.

Kai Bae Huts Nor Nou Speedboats – Koh Chang Island Hopping
Kai Bae Huts Nor Nou Speedboats leaves at 09.00 daily from Kai Bae Huts Resort Pier, which is located at the end of the little street opposite Meeechai Elephant Camp, the southern end of Kai Bae Beach. The return is at 11.00 from Koh Kood.
In journey order, the speedboat stops at your resort pier on Koh Wai and then the pier at Makathanee Resort on Ao Kao Beach, the south west coast on Koh Mak. At Koh Kood, it delivers you direct to your resort if possible.
On Koh Chang, there is a free share shuttle taxi transfer from your resort (up to White Sand Beach) to Kai Bae Huts Pier or the reverse if arriving. For Klong Son and the east coast, there will be additional charges.
On arrival at Koh Mak, same as with Bang Bao Boats, your resort may collect you if you let them know or use a local taxi, 50bt per person, minimum charge 100bt. For departure, ask your resort to drop you at Makathanee Resort.
Arriving at Koh Kood, if delivery is not possible direct to your resort, the speedboat drops you at the nearest pier. It terminates at Siam Beach Resort. This company does not provide a share shuttle taxi to your resort, so you should ask your resort to collect you (they may charge).
Going the other way, it’s the same system in reverse but you should always get your resort to confirm the arrangements. The resort too may charge you a fee for delivery to the pier.

Boonsiri – Koh Chang Island Hopping
From 1/10/23 to 31/5/24, Boonsiri runs its inter-island catamaran service. This is an additional one to its main route between Laem Sok Pier and Koh Kood.
The catamaran leaves from Bang Bao Pier in Koh Chang at 09.00, with times of an hour to Ao Nid Pier on Koh Mak and a further 30 minutes to Ao Salad Pier on Koh Kood. The return service is at 14.00. Prices are 600bt from Koh Chang to Koh Mak and 900bt to Koh Kood. Koh Mak to Koh Kood is 400bt.
On Koh Chang and Koh Kood, there is a free share shuttle service between resort and pier.
Arriving at Koh Mak, you make your own way from Ao Nid Pier or your resort collects you – you ask them beforehand. For departure, you ask your resort to drop you.
Incidentally, this service actually continues from Koh Kood to Had Lek Pier by the Cambodian border, arriving at 11.30. It’s a special price of 900bt from Koh Chang to there, 700bt from Koh Mak or Koh Kood.
It leaves from Had Lek going back the other way at 13.00, so reaches Koh Kood at 14.00, Koh Mak at 14.30 and Koh Chang at 15.30.

From Salak Phet area – Koh Chang Island Hopping
If staying on the Koh Chang East Coast, there is no Koh Chang island hopping service out to the islands unless you rent a private boat at 5,000bt upwards.
Tickets you may see advertised near to Salak Phet for Koh Wai, Koh Mak and Koh Kood will, in fact, take you on a taxi back to White Sand Beach to join the free morning transfer that the boats operate to Bang Bao or Kai Bae respectively.
June to September – Island Hopping between Koh Kood, Koh Mak and Koh Chang
These Koh Chang island hopping boats do not run during the rainy season (June to September), so you will have to return to the mainland using the main ferries and then travel along the coast to make the boat connections from Laem Ngop Pier for Koh Mak and from Laem Sok Pier for Koh Kood.

Private Transfer
For the private option, prices are from 1,700bt for a car for 2 pax in either direction with hotel collection/delivery on Koh Chang and fast ferry tickets from/to Koh Chang. A minibus is 2,100bt for 4 persons. The price does not include the boat tickets to/from Koh Mak, 550bt per person.
Private Speedboats may be available on request and depending on the weather.
Share
For the share option, you take a songthaew taxi on Koh Chang to Ao Sapparot Pier, (the fast ferry, all day) or Centerpoint Pier (only the 09.00, 12.00 applicable here, September 23).
You then hop in a Trat bound taxi on the other side and ask them to drop you at Laem Ngop Pier for Koh Mak. This mainland taxi leg is 50bt per person from Centerpoint Pier, though they might have a minimum charge. It’s 300bt minimum charge from Thammachat Pier.
If coming the other way, on arrival at Laem Ngop Pier from Koh Mak, take a taxi to either Ao Sapparot or Centerpoint, though relevant ferries from the latter are only at 10.30, 14.00 and 17.15 as of June 23. Songthaew taxis are lined up at the pier on the island side but will only leave when full.
Koh Chang to/from Koh Kood – June to September
Private Transfer
For the private option, prices are from 2,300bt for a car for 2 pax in either direction with hotel collection/delivery on Koh Chang and fast ferry tickets from/to Koh Chang. A minibus is 2,700bt for 4 persons. The price does not include the boat tickets to/from Koh Kood, 350bt to 600bt per person depending on which time and company.
Private Speedboats may be available on request and depending on the weather.

For the blue share songthaew taxis, the cost is around 800bt to 1,000bt from Centerpoint or Ao Thammachat to Laem Sok, all boat tickets separate. Remember these are old, basic and open sided vehicles, with travel time of at least an hour on a very fast highway – not for the faint hearted.
