Pearl Beach restaurants are few and far between, comprising mostly a handful of cheap Thai diners but hunt around a little and you will discover some other options – Indian, European, vegetarian and Thai fusion.
On the site of the old Tesco’s leading down to the seafront, there are a couple of cheap and cheerful made to order spots, a Vietnamese noodles shop and Shane, an Indian cafe at the front. Just back from the seafront, you’ll also find a seafood choice and the pick of the bunch, Sao’s on the Sea – western breakfasts, Thai food, all served in a stylish little set-up on the rocks.
Further along, the original streetside food court area by Privilege Resort is now much reduced but you can still get chicken on rice or next door, a full menu cooked to order.
As its name implies, Saffron on the Sea also sits by the ocean down the end of the first little side street after Keereeta Resort. Menu wise, it’s modern Thai bistro – grilled seafood, a few classic stir fries and salads, the odd western dish, cocktails and smoothies – with dining on the wooden terrace and some great tunes in the background.
Southern End
Turn in by the Honda motorbike centre and about 150 metres along, on the corner of the now defunct car wash, you’ll find the tiny vegan and vegetarian cafe Everflow. Despite its less than glamorous location and tiny space, the food is excellent, all very cosy and unhurried.
On the way out of town, Jae Poh-Rah specialises in seafood – popular with locals, it’s one of the best restaurants in the area.
Western Food
On the corner at the start of Pearl Beach, Little European Restaurant carries a middle Europe style menu -goulash, schnitzel, chops, potatoes, salads.
The superstore Big C hosts a bakery, dairy sections, fresh fruit and veg as well as takeaway options such as fried whole mackerel, 1/2 fried chickens and pork steaks, rice too – in the high season, it sells out fast.

Saffron on the Sea

Charming spot by the sea at the end of the first of the two little streets opposite Big C . Deservedly popular restaurant with seating on the decking serving up a short menu of classic Thai dishes, a few western choices, seafood, cocktails and a full bar. Understated and relaxed, it has a handful of boutique rooms too.
