Ao Salad and Ao Yai Resorts, Homestays – East Coast

Over on the north east coast of Koh Kood, the fishing villages of Ao Salad and Ao Yai both have a few places to stay.

Note that you will require transport to do anything outside of the villages as the nearest beach to Ao Salad is Ao Tapao, about 25 minutes and to Ao Yai is at Ao Phrao, 15 minutes.

Ao Salad Resorts, Bungalows

From its excellent vantage point over the bay, the aptly named Ao Salat View offers standard a/c bungalows, with prices ranging from 750bt to 950bt.

On the pier itself, the restaurant Captain Nhong comprisess ensuite and a/c doubles and family rooms, 700bt to 1,000bt.

Sitting in the next bay around the coast, Koh Kood Island, a Thai resort once used by group tours, is still closed for supposed major renovations, but looking increasingly unlikely to ever re-open.

As an area to stay, on the positive side, Ao Salad give you a glimpse into the workings of a local Thai fishing village and you can eat very well at one of the tiny seafood restaurants. On the hill above, the giant Buddha is one of the island’s landmarks. On the negative side, this is the main pier for the big Laem Sok boats (Koh Kood Express ferry, Seudamgo, Boonsiri, Koh Kood Princess) so it’s very busy all day with lots of taxis going back and forth.

Ao Yai Resorts, Bungalows

Over on the south east coast, the second of Koh Kood’s fishing villages, Ao Yai, offers a couple of homestays and an escape-to-nature Crusoe style house.

Down on the pier, Chonthicha, best known for its excellent seafood restaurant, now also operates a small homestay – a handful of double a/c ensuite rooms, clean and practical, side by side in one building over the water – 1,300bt a night. Ao Yai Homestay is at the far end, 1,500bt a night in peak, similar set-up but older.

New in 2026, Seawood is a traditional two roomed wooden house by the sea on the next coast. It’s 3,500bt a night per room (and you take the whole house) and accessible only by boat.

On the pier, there are a couple of places to eat outside of the seafood restaurants – all very local.
