Bang Bao resorts, bungalows and homestays are located along its long pier and around the wide bay, with plenty of great choices, but bear in mind that there is no beach.
For the sand, you need to head to Bang Bao Beach or Klong Goi Beach as it is also called, which is a 2.5 kilometers up the road, a walkable distance but best on a motorbike or in the back of a taxi.
North Side of the Bay – Bang Bao Resorts
Before you reach the fishing village proper, a small street opposite Coconut Garden leads to the accommodation on the north side of the bay.
Coconut Garden itself offers a/c, fan rooms and dorm style accommodation from 330bt a night, but turning in and following the street around, you reach Bang Bao Cliff View Resort. The resort is laid out in rows on the hillside, uniform a/c bungalows at 1,000bt to 1,500bt.
Cliff Cottage next door has its own a/c rooms at a similar price in two one storey blocks by the street or rooms and glamping tents high up on the hillside above, overlooking the sea. The tents go from 650bt a night in the high season.
Continuing along the road, Nirvana Resort has a wide selection of rooms on the seafront or under the trees, its cottage with bay view at 2,700bt a night, 3,250bt for deluxe and 6,500bt for a double cottage. Further along and up the slope, the ever expanding Bhuvarin Resort and its neighbour Resolution Resort go from 2,000bt a night. All three of these Bang Bao resorts have swimming pools.
Two homestays, mainly used by Thai packages complete the accommodation picture, with Homestay Beach the pick of them at 600bt a night.
Coming in 2021 to 2022 to the north side of Bang Bao, Aquarius Wellness Spa and Resort is the largest new project on Koh Chang for many a year – look out for the billboard on the way into Bang Bao to see what’s on offer.

Bang Bao Resorts – The Village and Pier
Before you turn down towards the pier, the motel style Alysia Springs sits on the right hand side, with a/c rooms and a swimming pool at 1,500bt a night.
On the pier itself, little alleys and planked walkways lead to various houses or restaurants with a small selection of rooms. Bang Bao Sea House has daily, weekly and monthly rates, whilst Chill House starts at 1,000bt a night. El Greco has accommodation above its restaurant, a double here from 1,600bt. A few metres along, you can stay in very cute 750bt huts at Paradise Bang Bao Homestay.
Buddha View at the far end of the pier has rooms at the back of its restaurant, 900bt to 1,400bt, whilst Ocean Blue Guesthouse, just down the next walkway on the right, offers 500bt fan or more expensive a/c rooms off a central wooden planked corridor.
If you carry on past Ocean Blue, Koh Chang Sea Hut has now closed after the government declared its individual stilted cabanas out over the water had encroached illegally.
On the southern side of the bay, Tranquillity Bay dominates the hillside with its two imposing condos apartment blocks. This long running project has now completed construction. 2nd phase units are now available for sale from 6.95M THB. Owners also offer holiday lets on existing appartments – check the like of Airbnb and Tripadvisor, but do note it is not a hotel per se.
Hippy Huts their tiny neighbour sets its sights a little lower, basic rooms from 250bt a night for fan and shared bathroom. Rasta Beach, on the other side of the condo complex, is similarly priced.
