Private Transfer – Bangkok to Koh Chang
A private transfer is a convenient, comfortable and safe way to get from Bangkok to Koh Chang, with the service using either a car or a minibus depending on the size of your group. This a door to door service with collection from your Bangkok hotel or Airbnb at a time of your choosing.
With stops along the way for snacks, refreshments and toilet breaks, journey time is around 4.5 to 5 hours to the mainland pier at Ao Thammachat, which is home to the fast ferry to Koh Chang.
With a private transfer, you drive onto the boat, where you can then wander upstairs, a nice vantage point for the approach to the island. The crossing itself takes 30 to 40 minutes and once docked at Ao Sapparot on the other side, you are delivered direct to your resort.
The cost is 4,300bt for a car for 2 pax or 2 adults with small child, 4,500bt for 2 adults and 2 child child in the larger Innova or Fortuner style car and 5,200bt for a minibus for up to 6 pax. All ferry tickets, tolls and diesel are included. Round trip discounts are available. Car and baby seats can also be provided.
You can also travel with a share minibus from Bangkok to Koh Chang, hotel door to hotel door.
The vehicles used are 10 seater Toyota Commuters which whizz around central Bangkok collecting passengers directly from their respective hotels before heading out east onto the highway for Koh Chang.
Collection time from your hotel is generally from 08.00 to 09.00 depending on its location. There may be earlier pick-ups for hotels nearer the river such as in the Khao San area and certainly pick-ups are later if staying in one of the Suvarnabhumi Airport hotels, the last stop for the minibuses on their way out of town.
The hotel to hotel share minibus reaches Ao Thammachat Pier mid afternoon, where, as with a private transfer, the minibus drives onto the fast ferry. Passengers are then dropped at their individual hotels and resorts as the minibus makes its way down the island.
The share minibus is 950bt per person, with an additional 100bt per person for delivery to hotels in south Kai Bae, Lonely Beach, Bailan and 200bt for Bang Bao Pier and Bang Bao Beach (Klong Goi) bridge. Discounts are available for round trips.
