Private Transfers – Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang
Private transfer by car or minibus is a comfortable, stress-free way of making the trip from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang, with a range of vehicles available to suit your needs. The transfers are door to door, driving on and off the ferries.
Passengers are met at Door 3 Level 2 by the driver with a name sign. It is best to allow 45 minutes to an hour from landing for Immigration and baggage reclaim.
Domestic arrivals of course do not need the Immigration so you get through into the Arrivals Hall much quicker.
How Long Does It Take?
With its location on the east side of Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi Airport (airport code BKK) is ideally situated for quick access onto the highway to the Koh Chang islands.
It’s an undemanding 4 to 4.5 hours to the fast ferry pier at Ao Thammachat (Ferry Koh Chang). This includes a couple of service stops along the way to stretch your legs. The ferry crossing itself takes 25 to 35 minutes.
Time for final delivery to your resort door is dependent on its location. As a guide, White Sand Beach is just over 10 minutes away from the arrival pier at Ao Sapparot, Kai Bae Beach 20 to 25 minutes, Lonely Beach 30 minutes and Bang Bao Beach 45 minutes or more.
Cut-off Times for Leaving Suvarnabhumi
The final ferry, Ferry Koh Chang from Ao Thammachat Pier to Ao Sapparot Pier, leaves at 18.30 daily. To make the ferry connections, we normally set 14.00 as the deadline for leaving the Airport, Immigration and baggage completed.
Timings for Koh Kood
If travelling to Laem Sok Pier for Koh Kood, a private transfer leaving Suvarnabhumi Airport at 10.30 is the around the final time to make the boat connection at 16.00, the Seudamgo mini catamaran, 600bt per person.
Timings for Koh Mak
You must leave the Airport by 11.00 if heading to Laem Ngop Pier for Koh Mak. This will make the last speedboat at 16.00 run by Panan, 550bt per person.
Late Arrivals and Night Arrivals
If your flight lands too late to make the connection, we can supply a private transfer to Laem Ngop Pier. From there, you make the crossing to Koh Chang in a privately chartered out-of-hours wooden passenger boat. Once on the island, a new private vehicle takes you from the arrival pier to your resort. For arrivals in early hours of the morning, we also provide transfers through the night. You can then get on the first fast ferry to Koh Chang at 06.30, with the chance for breakfast at your resort.
Vehicles
For 2/3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children, we use Fortuner, Pajero, Suzuki XL 7, Innova, Xpander SUV cars. For 4 pax or more, we use a private minibus, Toyota Commuter or we also have the 5 seater Ventury.
Child Seats
Child seats are available including a rear facing Aprica style for infants. We can use 2 child seats in the larger cars, with an additional 200bt charged. If using a minibus, baby seats may need to be forward facing due to them having lap seatbelts not 3 point.

Flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Trat Airport
Bangkok Airways flies from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to Trat Airport (TDX), with 2 flights daily in each direction. Departures at Suvarnabhumi Airport is on Floor 4. For domestic flights, you need to be there 90 minutes before flight time.
Trat Airport has CIQ (Customs, Immigration and Quarantine) status. If your original flight is with a Bangkok Airways partner airline, you can check your baggage all the way through from your original take-off Airport provided both flights are booked together. This means you do not need to pass through Immigration on landing but can proceed straight to Departures for your Trat flight. Confirm this when you make your booking.
If you booked the Trat flight separately to your main flight, you will need to pass though Immigration and baggage reclaim on Floor 2 before heading to Floor 4 Departures.
Connections to/from Boats
Trat Airport is 20 to 30 minutes from the Koh Chang Pier at Ao Thammachat and Laem Ngop Pier for Koh Mak, 45 minutes to an hour from Laem Sok Pier for Koh Kood.
Both daily flights will always make the ferry crossings for Koh Chang.
For Koh Kood, the lunchtime flight PG305 landing at 12.40 (summer timetable, 31/3/24 to 26/10/24) connects to the Seudamgo at 14.20 or the Boonsiri at 14.40. When on the winter timetable (27/10/24 to around 30/3/25), PG305 lands at 13.40 so it is too tight for the above boats – use Seudamgo’s boat at 16.00.
Going to Koh Mak, the PG305 on the summer timetable connects you with the 14.00 Leelawadee. On the winter timetable, you take Panan’s speedboat at 16.00.
The afternoon flight PG307 landing at 17.15 does not make any boat connection to Koh Kood or Koh Mak, so it’s a night on the mainland.
Return
Either of the return flights from Trat back to Suvarnabhumi Airport are fine if coming from Koh Chang.
Leaving from Koh Mak, you should take the 10.00 Panan to connect with the PG306 which leaves at 13.10 (summer timetable, 31/3/24 to 26/10/24). When on the winter timetable (27/10/24 to around 30/3/25), PG306’s departure from TDX is at 14.10, so you use the 11.30 Leelawadee off the island.
From Koh Kood, when PG306 is on the summer timetable with departure at 13.10, you need either the 09.00 Boonsiri, docking at 10.00 or the 09.30 (10.45) Koh Kut Express mini catamaran via Koh Mak. The 10.00 (11.00) Seudamgo is a bit too tight for this but works perfectly for the winter timetable departure at 14.10.
For the PG308 at 17.50, the last speedboat off Koh Mak is at 13.30, (arrival 14.15 to 14.30). You could also use the 14.30 Seudamgo which is coming from Koh Kood but calls at Koh Mak on its way. It’s 550bt per person, docking at 15.20 at Laem Sok Pier.
From Koh Kood, you can use the 13.00 Koh Kut Express speedboat docking at 14.00 or the 13.50 (15.20) Seudamgo to make the same flight – either summer or winter timetable.
From Trat Airport to Koh Chang
To get from Koh Chang to Trat Airport, you will need either a private transfer or a share minibus.
- Private transfers from Trat Airport to Koh Chang, door to door, are from 2,000bt for a car for 2 persons with ferry tickets for all beaches up to Kai Bae. A private minibus is 2,500bt with ferry tickets for 4 persons. For Lonely Beach, Bailan and Bang Bao, please add 200bt.
- Share minibuses are 800bt per person with ferry ticket and delivery to your resort.

Buses and Share Minibuses – Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang
Suvarnabhumi Burapa Company
From Floor 1 Door 8 Suvarnabhumi Burapa Company (SWB) operates a microbus from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang.
- As of March 2024, there are departures at 07.00 and 11.00.
- The price is 650bt, including the ferry at Ao Thammachat and delivery to your resort up to Kai Bae Beach. For Lonely Beach and Bailan, add 50bt. For Bang Bao and Bang Bao Beach, add 100bt.
- The journey takes 5 to 5.5 hours to reach the pier. Allow another 90 minutes+ for the crossing and final delivery.
- Currently, the return service is at 10.00 and 13.00 from Koh Chang back to Suavarnabhumi Airport, with resort collection from 08.30 starting in Bang Bao Beach.
How do I book Suvarnabhumi Bupara Company?
The best advice with this service from Suavarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang is to just turn up and buy tickets for the first one leaving – they should have seats. If you do want to book, then use one of the online bus ticketing services such as https://www.busonlineticket.co.th/ . Please note in the event of delays in flight arrivals or at Immigration, the seats are non transferable and non refundable.
For Koh Chang to BKK Suvarnabhumi, you can book once on the island.

Share Minibus
Our hotel to hotel hoppa share minibus service can also collect you from oustide Door 7 Level 2 Arrivals at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Collection is between 10.00 and 10.30 as the share minibus makes its way out from its morning pick-ups in Bangkok. Cost is 850bt per person with ferry ticket to the door of your Koh Chang resort.
Return
The return from Koh Chang back to Suvarnabhumi Airport drives on the ferry around 10.00, with resort collections starting from 08.20 from the bridge at Bang Bao Beach, up to 09.30 from White Sand Beach. It’s 750bt per person with ferry ticket. You reach Suvarnambhumi around 16.30.

999 Bus
Departing from Ekamai Bus Station in the east of the city at 07.45, the 999 Bus reaches Suvarnabhumi Airport Transportation Centre (Bus Station) at 08.20. Price is 292bt per person to to the ferry piers for Koh Chang, takes 5.5 to 6 hours with a stop for fuel and calls in at Chantaburi Bus Station on the way.
You can get across to the Transportation Centre from the Airport Terminal using the free shuttle bus (A), which leaves every ten minutes from the 3rd traffic lane over from Door 3 Floor 1.
The 08.20 will arrive at about 13.30 to Thammachat Pier. For Koh Mak and Koh Wai, you then hop in a taxi at 50bt per person to Laem Ngop Pier (minumum 300bt) or the bus may run there itself – ask on boarding. You will probably miss the 14.00 Leelawadee speedboat to Koh Mak, but there is another one at 16.00 Panan and on weekends in high season, one at 15.00.
Connections for the Return
Coming back the other way, there is a 14.30, only from Thammachat Pier. You need to be on the ferry around 13.00 to 13.30 to ensure you can make the departure times.
From Koh Mak, for the 14.30, take the 11.30 Leelawadee.
With an ultimate destination of Ekamai Bus Station, the 999 reaches the Airport Bus Station at 19.30.
