Panviman Resort is one of Koh Chang’s longest established luxury resorts.
About Panviman Resort
Located on the very popular Klong Prao Beach, Panviman Resort has 50 deluxe rooms, swimming pools, a spa, restaurant and bar all dotted about immaculately kept tropical gardens.
Accommodation comprises a mixture of deluxe or deluxe with pool access rooms, double or twin lay-outs, as well as the more indulgent jacuzzi villas. The pool access rooms share common private swimming pools enabling you to step from your spacious terrace directly into the water.
The amenities in the Panviman Resort rooms themselves are everything you would expect of a luxurious resort, with TV, DVD, minibar, safe, bathrooms accessories and wifi access. The bathrooms are a curious back to nature combination, featuring plants and mini waterfalls, with a clear roof creating an impression of being open air.
The main swiming pool is by the sea, with lots of sun loungers and a shower. From there, you can also step straight from Panviman Resort onto Klong Prao beach, one of Koh Chang’s best.
Panviman Resort is about 1.2 km or 15 minutes walk from the main road down a speed bumped lane. This gives the resort a very peaceful atmosphere but that walk can be a little annoying. The resort does offer a free shuttle service up to the main road every hour, though feedback suggests it is not always available.
Panviman Resort offers an extensive buffet breakfast and its Four Angels Restaurant serves Thai and International cuisine all day. You can also pick up light meals at its Rocky Bar.
The food does not receive universal praise, some seem to rave and some are disappointed, but you can easily walk along the beach for further choices, Tiger Huts great for lunch. Once up at the main road too, you’ll find plenty of local restaurants, food stands, fruit markets and convenient stores; Kati Culinary and Tonsai, in particular, are two diners to look out for just after Klong Prao temple.
Panviman Spa is open from 10.00 to 19.00 with massage, treatments and sauna. They operate both within the resort and back up at the main building by the road.
Service and staff are generally very attentive and professional, keen to please and eager to iron out any problems that may crop up during your stay.
Panviman Resort – Our Verdict
Panviman Resort is styled with high Northern Thai Lanna style roofs, large rooms with interiors in wood and rattan, lots of nice touches. It’s not a look that will appeal to allcomers, perhaps too gauche and ostentatious for some tastes. Yet, the resort does have an air of grown-up elegance with its pool access villas and tended gardens. Guests tend to be older, rather than families or younger couples. For peace and quiet and seclusion, it’s hard to beat with its prices reflecting where it sees itself. No question, Panviman Resort is one of Koh Chang’s most luxurious places to stay.

The peaceful Klong Prao Beach is a lovely long 3km stretch of sand split by two canals at either end. With its concentration of large upmarket resorts right on the beach, it attracts families, couples and just a few independent travellers. Around the central temple, it has a good mix of Thai and Western restaurants and plenty of shops, all a short walk only from the sea. It’s not a nightlife area. The area boasts the main waterfall at Klong Plu, elephant camps and cookery schools.
