Bang Bao resorts, bungalows and homestays are located on the north side of the bay, on and around the central pier and as you leave the village heading south.
There’s some plenty of great choices but bear in mind that there is no beach. For that, you head to Bang Bao Beach (Klong Kloi/Goi), which is a 2.5 kilometers up the road, a walkable distance but best on a motorbike or in the back of a taxi.
Prices given are for the peak period (not Xmas/New Year week) via booking sites, not the hotel websites. They are intended as guides only.
You can jump straight to the relevant section as needed:-
North Side of Bay – Bang Bao Resorts
Before you reach the fishing village proper, Wild Hippie Chang (formerly Coconut Garden), sits on the corner, offering a/c and fan rooms from 550bt a night. Up the track beside it, Hippy Huts has settled into its new location with bungalows – the tents were temporary – and rooms in the main house. Prices start at 450bt a night, deals for longer stays.
Opposite Wild Hippie Chang, that small lane leads to the accommodation on the north side of the bay. Near the start, you’ll find two small bungalow resorts Baan Suan Khun Ta and Orchid Garden Resort. The former is a standard style in a pleasant garden setting at around 1,000bt a night, whilst Orchid combines single block brushed concrete rooms at 1,200bt with a couple of new two floor houses.
Carry on down and you reach Bang Bao Cliff Cottage (formerly Cliff View), separate to the very popular Cliff Cottage Resort below. An older Thai style resort, it’s laid out in rows on the hillside, uniform a/c bungalows at 850bt to 1,200bt.
Next door, Cliff Cottage Resort, owned and run by BB Divers, comprises a/c rooms in a series of single storey motel blocks by the street with seaview or bungalows and glamping tents high up on the hillside above, both overlooking the cove behind. The tents go from 1,000bt a night in the high season, rooms at 1,500bt, bungalows at 1,700bt and the largest family room (The Boathouse) at 3,500bt.
Also new to the area in May 24, Padel Lodge (Paddle Lodge in Airbnb) has 3 modern portacabin style bungalows on the cliffs with amazing sea views, around 3,000bt a night.
Continuing along the road, Nirvana Resort remains closed and in an increasingly decrepit state.
Far End
Drive through Nirvana and up the steep hill which hugs the bay, the ever expanding and upgrading Bhuvarin Resort is the pick of the Bang Bao resorts. Its older standard rooms start at 1,600bt, with the new seaview villas from 3,000bt. Bhuvarin‘s neighbour, Resolution Resort, has also been renovated, prices at around 2,000bt a night for garden view, 3,000bt to 3,800bt for the deluxes.
Two homestays, mainly used by Thai packages complete the accommodation picture, with Homestay Beach the pick of them at 600bt a night.
On the north side of Bang Bao, Aquarius Wellness Spa and Resort is on hold. In theory, combining a luxury hotel, with villas and a mall, you can see the initial show house and reception building as you hit the outskirts of the village shortly after Dara Rehab (itself closed) – nature is taking it back quickly though. On the back street to the above resorts, you may also spot the gated access, which would ultimately lead up to the hotel section,

The Village, Pier, Southern Side of Bay – Bang Bao Resorts, Bungalows, Guesthouses
Before you turn down towards the pier, the now very old motel Alysia Springs sits on the right hand side, with a/c rooms and a swimming pool at 750bt to 1,500bt a night.
Opposite Alysia Springs, a small track by the restaurant takes you bumping up the hill to discover two unexpected white-washed villas – Teak Hill Pool Villa – Rosewood and Nuna Villa. Kitted out to the highest quality, each has a similar Balinese slant to their design, with Nuna the larger of the two. Their accompanying plunge pools make them an unsuitable rental if you have small children. Prices start at around 8,000bt a night, rising considerably in absolute peak season.
Sunny Inn at the back of the little plaza – Koh Chang Divers sits on the corner – and B.B Bungalows on the left just before the pier each have standard a/c rooms – might be an option as a long stay option.
On The Pier
On the pier itself, little alleys and planked walkways lead to various houses or restaurants with a small selection of rooms. Primarily aimed at Thai weekenders and groups, Koi Sea House has daily rates at 800bt , whilst Televille and Good View are both around 1,000bt a night. All would do weekly and monthly rates too. A few metres along on the other side, Paradise Bang Bao Homestay has shut down.
Continuing on, you’ll spot another walkway on the right leading to Jerpordee Residence and Cafe. Formerly Buddha View, it’s now operated by the local landlord, a selection of a/c ensuite rooms off a central corridor at 1,100bt a night with the popular restaurant, which looks out over the bay, at the front.
At the far end of the pier, Ocean Blue Guesthouse, down another walkway on the right, offers 800bt fan or more expensive a/c rooms at 1,450bt off a central wooden planked corridor.
Southern Side of Bay
On the southern side of the bay, Tranquillity Bay dominates the hillside with its two imposing condos apartment blocks. Owners also offer holiday lets on existing appartments – check the like of Airbnb and Tripadvisor, but do note it is not a hotel per se.
Next door to Tranquillity Bay, both Neeno and Pipin Cafe have fan and a/c rooms too, prices from around 500bt to 700bt in season.
