Chivapuri Beach Resort is one of Koh Chang’s most intimate boutique resorts .
Located in Bang Bao Beach (Klong Kloi), it comprises just 20 rooms, a swimming pool and restaurant area in a wonderfully private position at the far end of the beach, right on the sand.

Just steps away from the sea, accommodation is within huge Lanna style houses. These are divided up as follows:-
- 40 sq metre superior rooms.
- 64 sq metre garden deluxe rooms, both with balconies.
- 110 sq metre family house.
- 84 sq metre beachside villa.
Amenities in the rooms include individually controlled air-conditioning, LCD TVs, DVD players, mini-bar, in-room safe, shower and rain water shower, hairdryer, bathroom accessories, wifi, refridgerators and coffee-tea makers.
The Pool and Location
Chivapuri Beach Resort is blessed with one of the best swmimming pools on the island, steps away from all the room. Despite its small size, it never feels too crowded and the panoramic view out over the ocean, just fabulous.
Bang Bao Beach is at the far end of the west coast and Chivapuri Beach Resort is at its furthest end. You access it via a long bumpy road, so on arrival, you may well find it all very remote. Get your bearings, root out the other restaurants, bars and mini-marts and you’ll see there’s no reason to worry.

Complimentary buffet breakfast is served at its in-house restaurant by the sea, where you can also choose from a full menu of western and Thai dishes.
The food does not get the best press, it’s certainly not stand-out. Wander along the beach, though and you’ll find plenty of cheap alternatives, all more than passable. There’s a few laid back bars too.
Chivapuri Beach Resort – Our Verdict
The resort design, using that classic Lanna style with its familiar curved roof, is traditional and safe rather than award-winning. The interiors, which go for lots of wood finishes, are clean and functional but you still get lots of light, space and indeed comfort.
The houses’ grand scale can feel somewhat imposing but even then, this is a minor quibble and with the gardens unkempt feel, the resort still blends in with its surroundings.
As a resort to escape the crowds, this is a great place to stay – private, a bit of luxury and right on the beach.

Bang Bao Beach (Klong Kloi( is the last beach on Koh Chang’s west coast, about 3 kms up the road from Bang Bao fishing village.
Its development is very low key, with just an handful of resorts and bungalows along the beach and in a new up-and-coming backpacker area behind. There are beach restaurants and a reggae bar, but everything is everything is laid back. It’s not a party zone.
The beach does fill up during the day with visitors from further down the island, but its location remains still relatively remote. Renting a motorbike is an idea, though the taxis do run back and forth day and night. As a place to stay to beat the crowds, Bang Bao Beach is a great choice.
