Transfer by private car or private minibus is perhaps the easiest way of getting to Koh Chang from Bangkok.

Why Choose a Private Transfer to Koh Chang?

Flying to Trat Airport is the fastest way to get to Koh Chang but there is only one airline, Bangkok Airways. Without competition, they can pitch their prices far higher than other routes like Krabi and Chiang Mai, which means around 2,800bt for a single one way ticket. Added to that, you must travel to and from the Airports at each end, meaning the actual figure per person could be nearer 3,500bt per person.

With a private transfer by car or minibus, it’s just you and your friends or family. It’s door to door at a time of your choosing or we wait at the Airport at pre-arranged meeting places with a name sign.

When you leave Koh Chang, pick-up time from your hotel is again up to you. Early morning, late afternoon, whatever suits, it’s your call. Of course, in either direction, you can also stop when you want along the way.

As value for money goes and cost per person with convenience, a private transfer is hard to beat.

How Long Does A Private Transfer Take to Get to Koh Chang?

Travel time to the ferry piers is around 4 to 4.5 hours from Suvarnabhumi Airport. For collection from central Bangkok hotels, please add an extra 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic and where you are staying. The transfer includes a couple of service station stops for diesel, toilet breaks, food and drinks.

Once at the pier and boarded on the fast ferry, the crossing takes 25 to 35 minutes. Time required for final delivery to your hotel on the island is dependent on location. White Sand Beach is 10 to 15 minutes from the ferry piers , Chai Chet and Klong Prao Beach 20 minutes, Kai Bae Beach 25 minutes, Lonely Beach 30 minutes, Bailan Beach 35 minutes. A transfer to Bang Bao and Bang Bao Beach is about 45 minutes.

At peak times, such as the New Year holidays, the Songkran festival and the May Day long weekend, the Koh Chang ferry gets very busy, so you must factor in some queueing. When leaving the island, we use an alternative method to avoid an endless wait at the pier – one car from resort to pier, walk on the boat and the second driver meeting you on the other side. We also adjust pick-up times to allow for heavy traffic heading back to Bangkok.

Vehicles and Drivers

We offer this transfer service using our own local pool of trustworthy, safe and polite drivers. As the service is managed by us, we can respond quickly to last minute requests and changes of plan.

The private minivans used are Toyota Commuter minibuses, best for 4 to 8 people with luggage or we also have Venturys. The SUV style cars include Fortuners, Pajeros, Suzuki XL and Innovas. These give you plenty of room for 2/3 adults plus luggage or 2 adults and 2 small kids.

At selected times and subject to availability, we do also provide private microbuses (up to 18 persons) and larger buses, great for extended families, students on a trip and wedding groups.

Child Seats

We can supply a free child seat, with an additional one charged at 200bt extra. If using 2 seats, we can use an Innova, Fortuner or minibus (much more room). We also have rear facing baby seats (Aprica).

You are also very welcome to bring your own.

We had a call, i explained what exactly i wanted and he delivered a list of choices for boat transfers, drivers, accommodation and all sort of ideas that could make our holidays better. How do I Book a Koh Chang Private Transfer?

Our guide rates for our different private transfers are immediately below, with these prices including the Koh Chang ferry tickets.

Payment

On a a case by case basis, we can payment in THB cash on the day but if booking a return, we will take a cash deposit for the 2nd leg on the 1st day of travel.

We do prefer to take an initial deposit invoice via Wise (Swift bank transfer from your Wise account to our Thai bank or to our Wise account direct) Revolut tag or a PayPal invoice (with proceessing charges, go to them, not us). You do not need a PayPal account to pay the invoice, it can be settled with any credit card.

The deposit works as a guarantee, both to us and to you. You the pay the balances due in THB cash on the days of travel.

Guide Prices – Koh Chang Private Transfer

These are our list prices for private transfers, with all ferry tickets, tolls (if needed) and diesel included.

We also service routes such as Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya, Hua Hin, Khao Yai National Park and Khorat. Private tours by road to Chiang Mai are another niche service offered.

Please note that prices will increase during the peak period of 24/12/24 to 5/1/25 (Xmas and New Year) and the Chakri Day, Songkran and Coronation Day holidays in April/May.

Private Transfer from Koh Chang to Cambodia and the Cambodian Borders

For Cambodia, a private transfer can be arranged to and from the borders at Aranya Prathet, Had Lek and Ban Pakkad, with prices given below.

We also offer a door to door transfer by private car or private minibus to and from your hotel in Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, Phnom Penh and Battambang. There is always a change of vehicle at the border.

We normally only book transfers into Cambodia if you have an evisa, very easy to order from the official Cambodian government site.

If going to Siem Reap, we use a VIP guide who meets the vehicle at the border. He takes you through the whole Immigration process and then on to the Poipet Terminal. There, your private vehicle is then waiting for the final leg to Siem Reap.

Coming the other way, we suggest early collection direct from your Cambodian hotel. A 07.00am start from Siem Reap should put you on either the 15.00 or 16.00 ferry to Koh Chang. There is no need for a helper through Cambodian Immigration but be prepared for a long wait and queue to clear Thai Immigration – an hour upwards is the norm.

This international transfer service does require a deposit as we pay the Cambodian drivers in advance. If travelling into Cambodia, payment for the balance (after the deposit has been taken) is at the border before you leave Thailand. If coming out from Cambodia, we ask for payment on arrival at your destination in Thailand.
