We cover in text and pictures the annual festival of Songkran - that's the mad water throwing one which Thais celebrate to bring in their New Year. We explain the Loy Kratong festival, a home tambun (blessing) and Chinese New Year.
Organised events include Ultra Trails , which brings over a 1,000 participants to the island every year for gruelling runs through the forests of Salak Phet and over to Wai Chek Beach . Distances range from 13km to an overnight endurance race at 100km.

Koh Rang National Park Fee On Hold
A Park fee planned for visits to Koh Rang, principal diving and snorkeling site in Koh Chang National Park, on ice after furious local reaction. (This fee has now been introduced at 200bt per adult, 100bt per child, Thais at 40bt per adult, 20bt per child – March 2015)
