Category: Koh Chang East Coast Beaches
East coast beaches in Koh Chang comprise the very popular Long Beach, the wilds of Wai Chek Beach and the coastal areas of Dan Khao and Dan Mai.
If you opt for a day out touring these east coast beaches, then you really must include Long Beach as one of your stops. The road to get there is now in decent enough condition so that is no longer an excuse. Yes, it's a long way but rest assured, once there, the beach is wonderfully undeveloped and open. The small restaurant at the nothern end makes a perfect spot for a simple lunch. You can also pop along to the Naval Memorial at Hat Yuttanavy, one of Koh Chang's cutest beaches.
Much more difficult to reach is Wai Chek Beach, down near Salak Phet. Only a proficient motorbike driver should attempt this trip as the road is in an awful state. That said, once you get there, you'll be able to swim on Koh Chang's remotest beach, wild and untouched.
Meanhwile, back up near the ferries, Dan Khao is home to some great boutique resorts, worth a nose about, maybe some food at Amber Sands. Dan Mai, Koh Chang's administrative center, is yet another of the east coast beaches. Head down to the sea for some local life and a Chinese temple. Inland too, there's a gentle multi-tiered watefall.
