In keeping with the island vibe, Koh Kood nightlife is very low key and laid back, so don’t expect late nights, buckets and dancing on the beach till dawn.

You can jump straight to each category:-

Around the Beaches

Klong Chao and Ao Ngamkho Area

In Klong Chao Beach on the west coast, there are a couple of spots on the road after the bridge that skirts the shoreline heading north. Tawan Eco Bar offers live music with multiple instruments, upstairs at its hippy style bar. Opposite, in a stilted house amongst the mangroves on the sea inlet, Sunset Bar plays great tunes for the end of the day. It may also throws a few parties during the season, weed shop on site.

Bang on the beach itself, Sea Bar at Peter Pan Resort, is another one to hunt out – full bar and pool table. At the southern end, it’s well worth scaling the steep steps up to Good View’s terrace for its amazing vantage point out to sea and down to the beach below – perfect for a sundowner.

Inland towards the waterfall, Bartist is a long running feature of Koh Kood’s nightlife drawing in both the Bangkok and the travellers’ crowd – it’s about a ten minute walk from the guesthouses and bungalows on the river. On the way, you can stop at the Night Market by the river – beer garden style, Slowbar (converted bus as serving area) for live music, big screen, food available. King Coco Bar is across the road, a little quieter!

Ao Ngamkho Area

Heading out of Klong Chao on along the main road towards Ao Ngamkho, Full Moon Bar,  sandwiched between Chillout and Chaiyo, has been going a few years now, known for its cocktails too lots of other options too, pool table and convivial atmosphere – it closes in rainy season.

Down on the beach by S-Beach Resort, Million Cafe,  a lovely hang-out spot on the sand offers light food with its cocktails, beers and coffees, seating on the sand in front. 50 metres along, though, Huggy Beach Sunset Bar has become the vibes go-to spot at the end of the day – simple, wooden decked bar, scattered chairs and tables, a few covered wooden tables on the river behind for food, great atmosphere.

Once you reach the village area, Go Fishing Bar is a popular beer garden with live music and beer towers on your table. As well as serving hotpots, they also offer other snacky menu items and if you don’t fancy beer, a comprehensive cocktail list too. Needless to say, they organise fishing trips.

New in late 2025, the colourfully designed and octopus themed The Kraken sits roadside a little further on.  Its house specials are over 20 Thai craft beers, wines too which it pairs with cold cut platters, other finger food (nachos, bagels, fries) – open daily till late.

Bang Bao

Over at Bang Bao Beach, Hidden Gem by Monkey Bar (Siam Beach Resort) combines decent music with seating on the terrace or on the sand, a few bean bags thrown in and some food available too.

On the same beach at the northern end, The Deck Bar at Koh Kood Resort offers expansive wooden, tiered seating spilling down the slope overlooking the sea – full bar, nightly fireshows, one for the Gram.

Klong Hin, Ao Jak and Ap Phrao

Over in Klong Hin on their own coves, Hideout and Mint Lotus rank as two of Koh Kood’s top boutique resorts and their in-house bar/restaurants are open to outsiders, stylish and very hip.

At the top of the road into Ao Jak Beach, look out for Compass Bar, a  small affair with pool table, darts, outdoor seating or at the bar – full cocktail menu, very laid back and friendly. If you stay at one of the resorts by the sea, it’s a 10 minutes walk. Food is available too, opens at 19.00.

Down on the beach itself, the respective beach bar/cafes of the two resorts, Koh Kood Club and Neverland sit side by side bang on the front – food, drink, great place to wile away the hours.

On Ao Phrao Beach, at the northern end next door to the boutique resort, Rest Sea, Latitude 11 has a perfect beach bar spot on the sand. Serving an extensive cocktail menu and cold beers, they also dish up simple one plate style Thai food and snacks at their wooden tables with shade – all very friendly, closes at 22.00.

North from Klong Chao – Hin Dam, Klong Mad and Klong Rahan

Located on the shortcut road by the electricity station in the central Hin Dam area of the island, The Fisherman Hut offers live music most nights as background to its lively restaurant and bar. Check for open mic slots.

In Klong Mad, starting in the village itself (on the sea inlet), Moom is a sort of pop-up bar – cocktails, outdoor seating, relaxed spot.

Heading out north past Koh Kood Beach Resort, In the Mood for Love, themed after the Wong Kar-wai film, is a wonderfully esoteric spot of old sofas, period lamp shades, record player, wall paintings, rugs and even a phone box – just so much to look at and absorb.  Together with Japanese (and other) beers, sake and cocktails, it’s cooks up a huge menu of Japanese food, there’s a pool table, big screen for football and an all round good-time atmosphere.

Continuing another kilometre or so, Bearwolf is both upmarket bistro and wine bar, with seating inside or on the terrace – the very extensive wine list ranges from cava and champagne through red, white and rose. They have a movie night too on Mondays.

On the developing Klong Rahan Beach (Secret Beach), Sanddollar Bar is in the middle by Seacret Resort. It’s a simple beach bar with cocktails, beers, smoothies and a snacky style menu including hot dogs –  some shaded seating too, great location.

New Year and Songkran – Koh Kood Nightlife

On New Year’s Eve, most resorts will put on a special gala evening or host a party – check when making your booking. The island too may throw one large party in a central area, again ask once in situ.

In the Songkran holidays which run from 13th to 15th April, assume some big and loud celebrations at many places across Koh Kood.
