At the end of the south west coast, Ao Phrao Beach offers 5 beachside resorts and bungalow operations along its long undeveloped oceanfront, together with a couple of boutique guesthouses on the river behind and homestays further back on the road.

Northern Beach End and On the River
The excellent boutique Rest Sea Resort is located at the northern end of the beach, offering standard double villas at the back from 5,000bt a night, the deluxe double at 5,750bt, cute pool villas at 7,200bt a night to 7,500bt.
One the river behind it, the tiny boutique B & B Salty and Sunny opened in 2025 – a handful of elegantly designed rooms with their individual jacuzzis looking out over the mangroves – around 5,000bt a night in peak.
Continuing along the river, Gumm Lonely Club is a charming chilled out homestay of just 5 rooms from 1,800bt (4 nights minimum but check ahead) – it’s 5 minutes walk from the beach.
Further round still on the river but still no time at all to the beach, Escape Life, is the final accommodation here – another, highly styled boutique guesthouse of just 8 rooms, 2,000bt to 3,000bt (river view).

At the northern end of the Ao Phrao Beach in a secluded and private garden area, boutique resort of around 20 rooms, laid out either side of a central path leading down to the sea. Accommodation as standard double villas or as pool villas, restaurant and lovely swimming pool by the sand. A relaxing, cool spot.

Tucked in amongst the local houses along the river, very chic boutique B & B of just 4 rooms – all lovely neutral stone tones combined with wood features and bamboo style paneling, each with their own jacuzzi by the river. Over 10 years open, a friendly Bangkok couple (and cat) host this artsy homestay in a converted fisherman house at the northern end of on the river. Comprises just 5 rooms (3 ensuite, 2 with shared bathroom, fan or a/c), breakfast available, dinner (if ordered 2/3 hours before).

Stylish boutique guesthouse with 8 rooms off a central corridor, some with direct views over the mangroves. Chilled out diner on site, loungers, kayaks and WiFi. Excellent choice for couples, a few minutes from the beach.
Central Beach and Southern End
Ao Phrao Beach Resort, in the prime spot bang in the middle of the beach, mostly plays host to Thai packages though it does draw in non-Thais too – it’s very well kept and has keen prices at 1,700bt to 2,500bt (garden villa).
Alongside, I-Lay House, has two rows of bungalows right on the sand – either the deluxe wooden or the newer concrete style, alongside a set of wooden beach huts on raised platforms, shared bathroom. Prices are given at 4,200bt on their website but look out for much cheaper deals.
The deservedly popular Sunshine Resort, in its fabulous location at the far southern end, provides rooms from 2,100bt to 2,650bt a night. It has an offshoot, Sunshine On the Rock at the back, similar prices.

Sunshine Resort

At the far southern end of the beach, wide selection of 26 a/c and fan rooms, seaview, garden and family style, all set in a pretty garden with restaurant and beach bar. Fishing and snorkeling trips arranged. A great 2 star choice at this end of the island.
Sunshine on The Rock Resort

Behind the main Sunshine, offshoot resort on the creek, offering a handful of individual stylish bungalows or loft style rooms, all a/c, ensuite in brushed concrete. Romantic and peaceful spot for couples, 2 minutes from the beach, cafe and restaurant next door.
Approaching Ao Phrao
Back at the main road just before you turn down towards the beach itself, there are a couple of options too – it’s a good 15 minute walk to the beach so renting a motorbike would be an asset.
Aya Homestay goes for the portacabin style – around 5 of them on a lawned area, roadside, with their cafe and bar out front – low season at around 2,000bt a night.
On the other side of the road, run by a local couple, Kohkood Farmstay has a small selection of wooden bungalows set back in the trees – 1,500bt per night though may have minimum stay of 2/3 nights in peak.
As you come into the beach area itself, the long running Lee Red House gives you another budget choice – 5 or more bungalows at 1,500bt a night and a family room at 4,000bt.

Kohkood Farmstay

Located roadside just before the final left turning to Ao Phrao Beach, small friendly homestay of 5 a/c, ensuite bungalows in a garden setting near the forest. Restaurant on site for breakfast, motorbikes too (300bt per day). About 15 minutes walk to the beach itself.
Lee Red House

At the start of the beach, handful of simple bungalows with ensuite bathrooms on a grassy area. Breakfast buffet, 1,000 metres or so walk to the beach. Motorbikes. Boat trips for snorkeling and fishing.
