In our “How to Get to Koh Mak” section, we run through all your options on getting to Laem Ngop Pier for Koh Mak :-
- Private Transfers – We can arrange your transfers from Bangkok by private car or private minibus, direct to the pier – it’s by far the easiest and most comfortable way to travel.
- Speedboats – From Laem Ngop Pier, speedboats are your choice, with 4 companies running to and from the island co-ordinating with the other transport options. There are now severals options from Laem Sok Pier (the mainland pier for Koh Kood).
- Flying to Trat Airport – You can fly into Trat Airport with Bangkok Airways and then take either private transport or a songthaew to the speedboat pier.
- Public Bus – There are also regular daily public buses such as the 999 and microbuses, which head from Ekamai and Morchit to Trat. You change at Saen Tung Junction to a songthaew taxi for the last leg to the Koh Chang ferry pier or Laem Ngop Pier itself. Or there are also bespoke buses/boat combos from Khao San Road to Laem Sok Pier.
- You can island hop from Koh Chang, Koh Mak and Koh Wai using speedboats, a catamaran, mini catamaran and a wooden boat. Note: only the catamaran is available in the rainy season, June to September (always check).
