ATV or quad biking on Koh Chang is another fun way to spend a few hours away from the beach, with two companies to choose from ATV Winner and ATV Monster Adventure, both based in Klong Prao Beach.
Tours run from 30 minutes to 90 minutes into the nearby jungle, with viewpoints, waterfall swims and sunsets extras all available. The quad bikes themselves are from 300cc and 700cc, fully insured for personal accidents (but not damage), with crash helmets provided. Guides are English speaking.
All customers start out on the practice ground, whizzing around a small course marked out by old tyres. Whether it is your first time or you are a seasoned pro, this gives you time to get a feel for the ATV but importantly, it also allows the company staff a chance to assess your capabilities.
Once schooled, the simplest option is a 30 minute trundle around the short course, great fun for first timers. If you opt for a 60 minute tour, you head off into the jungle following clearly marked dusty trails through the trees, calling in at viewpoints along the way. If on the longest option, the 90 minute tour, it’s a similar trail but you also stop at the waterfall for a refreshing dip.
Prices are charged for the driver and passenger separately, so those that can’t drive or don’t want to drive, can still go along for the ride. Snacks, refreshments and transfers between your resort and the ATV centre are all included in the price.
