Located in Lonely Beach, Bhumiyama Beach Resort is a solid 3 star resort, with 45 rooms, a double tiered swimming pool, spa and restaurant area.
About Bhumiyama Beach Resort
Bhumiyama Beach Resort is one of just 4 resorts on Lonely Beach itself and it occupies a prime position in the centre of the sand.
Accommodation is split into superior rooms in a two storey style hotel block or either the upper or lower floor of large garden and seaview houses. All are set in immaculately kept tropical gardens around the lovely central tiered swimming pools.
Amenities in the rooms include individually controlled air-conditioning, LCD TVs, DVD players, mini-bar, in-room safe, bath-tub and shower, hairdryer, bathroom accessories, wifi, refridgerators and coffee-tea makers. The upper floor deluxe rooms in the bungalows also have suns decks and semi open-air bathtubs.
Complimentary buffet breakfast is served at its in-house restaurant by the sea, where you can also choose from a full menu of western and Thai dishes. The food receives very mixed reviews, but just next door at Nature Beach Resort, you have an excellent and very popular beach restaurant. Lonely Beach village is about 8 minutes walk away, where you’ll find plenty of cheap alternatives.
Bhumiyama Beach Resort does offer in-house massage facilities.
Bhumiyama Beach Resort – Our Verdict
As one of the most expensive resorts in Lonely Beach, Bhumiyama Beach Resort attracts families and couples drawn to the youthful exuberance of the area rather than for the parties themselves. Mostly European, they are a distinctly different crowd to those staying at boutique resorts like Warapura Resort or Nest Sense Resort.
The resort design is functional and traditional, with the 2 storey bungalow houses roofed in the classic Lanna style. Keeping with that conventional style, the interiors don’t cry out hip and modern, but they still feel nice and comfortable with an added touch of luxury.
The resort’s key feature, however, is its landscaping. The accommodation sits in mature tropical gardens, with the tiered swimming pools at its centre and together, they create a wonderfully peaceful and private atmosphere. You are literally metres from the sea and the Lonely Beach action yet exclusively separated from it and that is the resort’s stongest point.
Staff, service and the restaurant get average feedback but this is a 3 star resort rather than 4, so it’s in line with that rating.
Lonely Beach is Koh Chang’s premier nightlife area and next door at Nature Beach Resort does play music into the early hours, with a technical cut-off time of 12.00am. Siam Huts the other way also throws its own parties, so you must expect noise to carry into the resort.

Lonely Beach is Koh Chang’s backpacker, traveller and party center. It is in two distinct areas, with the excellent small beach some 5 minutes walk from the village itself. There are just a handful of resorts on the sand, but a wide choice of accommodation back in the village. Here, you will also find bars and restaurants, the odd coffee shop, tattoo parlours, massage and ticket agents. Think Khao San Road by the sea on a much smaller scale and you are not far off it. Parties takes place most nights of the week during the main season and yes, noise can be a problem at night. Lonely Beach is a fun place to hang out, meet other travellers, let your hair down and enjoy life.
