Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort Resort is one of Koh Chang’s most popular luxury resorts.
About Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort
Located on the very popular Klong Prao Beach, Koh Chang Tropicana Beach Resort, managed by the Centara Group, has 157 spacious rooms and suites set in pretty landscaped gardens, together with swimming pool, spa, restaurant and bar.
Accommodation comprises a mixture of superior rooms with terraces and glass frontages near the pool, together with deluxe cabanas and suites dotted around the grounds.
Tropicana Resort’s swimming pool faces the sea and you can step out of the resort straight onto the sand off down the beach in either direction.
The amenities in Centara Tropicana rooms themselves are everything you would expect of a luxurious resort with individually controlled air-conditioning, satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities, mini-bar, in-room safe, hairdryer, IDD telephone line and complimentary wireless Internet access.
Koh Chang Tropicana Resort offers an extensive buffet breakfast and its Sea Breeze Restaurant serves Thai, Italian and International cuisine all day. You can get the perfect holiday moment at the Sunset Bar, which also runs a happy hour.
The food and drink gets decent enough praise, prices obviously befit a 4 star resort standing, but you can easily venture out along the beach for further choices, with Family and Mandalay cheap, popular cafes on the sand.
It’s also only a few minutes walk up to the main road, where you’ll find plenty of local restaurants, food stands, fruit markets and convenience stores; Kati Culinary and Tonsai, in particular, are two diners to look out for just at the top of the Tropicana road.
The resort is very family friendly with an active Kids’ Club and it also runs the Cenvareee Spa, upmarket pampering with 8 treatment rooms, 11.00am to 20.00.
Service and staff are generally very attentive and professional.
Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort – Our Verdict
Koh Chang Tropicana Resort is charmingly understated in its design, low level buildings roofed with thatch, pastel colours, stylish but simple wooden interiors, all cleverly spaced out in the lush green gardens to give the guests plenty of space.
The pool is not its strongest element, a bit small perhaps for a resort of this size, but the kids love it and there is instant access anyway onto one of Koh Chang’s best beaches. Indeed, the location is first class as it also is only a few minutes walk from the hub of Klong Prao with all its restaurants and shops.
The resort is peaceful and very relaxed, managing to satisfy both couples and families, no mean feat. For us, Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort is deservedly one of Koh Chang’s prime 4 Star Resorts and with prices that need not break the bank.

The peaceful Klong Prao Beach is a lovely long 3km stretch of sand split by two canals at either end. With its concentration of large upmarket resorts right on the beach, it attracts families, couples and just a few independent travellers. Around the central temple, it has a good mix of Thai and Western restaurants and plenty of shops, all a short walk only from the sea. It’s not a nightlife area. The area boasts the main waterfall at Klong Plu, elephant camps and cookery schools.
