Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang is one of our of the most frequently requested transfers, with many holidaymakers preferring to head straight to the island and beach rather than stopping a night or two in Bangkok.
You can travel by either a private transfer, flying to Trat Airport or by bus/share minibus. We round up all the information for you here.
Private Transfers – Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang
Private transfer by car or minibus is a comfortable, stress-free way of making the trip from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang, with a range of vehicles available to suit your needs. The transfers are door to door, driving on and off the ferries.
Passengers are met at Door 3 Level 2 by the driver with a name sign. It is best to allow 45 minutes to an hour from landing for Immigration and baggage reclaim. Domestic Arrivals of course do not need the Immigration so you get through into the Arrivals Hall much quicker.
How long for a Private Transfer from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang
With its location on the east side of Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi Airport (airport code BKK) is ideally situated for quick access onto the highway to the Koh Chang islands, which are 300km away near to the Cambodian border in the eastern corner of Thailand.
Journey time to the Koh Chang piers is an undemanding 4 to 4.5 hours with a couple of stops along the way for snacks, toilet breaks, coffee and to stretch the legs.
The ferry crossing itself takes 30 to 40 minutes – we use the fast ferry – with the time for final delivery to your resort door dependent on its location. As a guide, White Sand Beach is just over 10 minutes away from the arrival pier at Ao Sapparot, Kai Bae Beach 20 to 25 minutes, Lonely Beach 30 minutes and Bang Bao Beach 45 minutes or more.
The final fast ferry, Ferry Koh Chang from Ao Thammachat Pier to Ao Sapparot Pier leaves at 18.30 daily. The last slow ferry, Centerpoint Ferry shuttling between the two Centerpoint Piers, leaves at 19.30. Unless in exceptional circumstances, we normally set 14.00 as the deadline for leaving the Airport, Immigration and baggage completed, to make the connection to the fast ferry.
If your flight lands too late to make the connection, we can supply a private transfer to Laem Ngop Pier, where you make the crossing to Koh Chang in a privately chartered out-of-hours wooden passenger boat. Once on the island, a new private minibus takes you from the arrival pier to your resort. Contact us for more details.
