About Chivapuri Beach Resort
With just a handful of resorts and bungalow operations on Bang Bao Beach Klong Kloi, Chivapuri Beach Resort stands alone as the boutique luxurious choice. It’s located in a wonderfully private position at the far end of the beach right on the sand.
Within the huge feature Lanna style houses, standard accommodation is divided up into 40 sq metre superior rooms or 64 sq metre garden deluxe rooms, both with balconies. There’s also a 110 sq metre family house and an 84 sq metre beachside villaa. All are set in lush tropical gardens, just steps away from the pool or the sand and sea.
Amenities in the rooms include individually controlled air-conditioning, LCD TVs, DVD players, mini-bar, in-room safe, shower and rain water shower, hairdryer, bathroom accessories, wifi, refridgerators and coffee-tea makers. Bathtubs are available in the deluxe rooms.
Complimentary buffet breakfast is served at its in-house restaurant by the sea, where you can also choose from a full menu of western and Thai dishes. The food does not get the best press, it’s certainly not stand-out but wander along the beach and you’ll find some cheap alternatives, all more than passable. There’s a few laid back bars too.
Chivapuri Beach Resort does offer in-house massage facilities.
Chivapuri Beach Resort – Our Verdict
The resort design, using that classic Lanna style with its familiar curved roof, is traditional and safe rather than award-winning. The houses opt for a grand scale rather than subtlety and in all honesty, they can feel rather imposing. Nonetheless, as a result of the gardens not being over-manicured, they do still succed in blending in with their surroundings. Meanwhile, the interiors, which go for lots of wood finishes, are clean and functional, providing lots of light and space and indeed comfort.
Chivapuri Beach Resort is blessed with one of the nicest swmimming pools on the island, with a lovely view out over the ocean and within just a few metres from all the rooms. Though only small in size, it tends not to get too crowded and like the whole resort, it feels wonderfully private.
Staff and service are friendly and efficient but as you would perhaps expect at a small resort, they are also more than happy to help that extra bit if needed.
Bang Bao Beach Klong Kloi is at the far end of the west coast and Chivapuri Beach Resort is at its furthest end. It is accessed via a long bumpy road and on arrival, it may at first seem very remote. But once you get your bearings, you’ll soon realise that there are other restaurants and bars, even a couple of mini-marts nearby, so you are not completely cut off. With that in mind, as a resort to escape the crowds, this is a great place to stay. Private, a bit of luxury and right on the beach.

Bang Bao Beach Klong Kloi is the last beach on Koh Chang’s west coast, about 3 kms up the road from Bang Bao fishing village. Its development is very low key, with just an handful of resorts and bungalows along the beach and in a new up-and-coming backpacker area behind. There are beach restaurants and two reggae bars, but everything is everything is laid back, it’s not a party zone. The beach does fill up during the day with visitors from further down the island, but its location remains still relatively remote. Renting a motorbike is an idea, though the taxis do run back and forth day and night. As a place to stay to beat the crowds, Bang Bao Beach Klong Kloi is a great choice.
