Klong Prao Beach nightlife does not make much of a contribution to the Koh Chang party scene.
Maybe, the concentration of larger and more expensive resorts means people stay in to get their money’s worth, maybe the distances from beach to road are a factor but whichever way, you are not going to be doing too much late night imbibing or stuff strutting.
At the northern end, Sapparot Bar and its neighbour, Moley’s are sweet spots on the canal, very relaxed and away from it all, both definitely worth a look.
At the southern end, Pilot Bar, one of the trio of bar restaurants near The Dewa and Emerald Cove, is much more in the heart of the beach action, great for a sundowner. And of course, those same resorts have their own happy hours for quality cocktails at not too exorbitant prices.
Cheap Thrills, also at the southern end but up by the road, has recently changed hands, so we must wait and see if they continue as a live music venue.
Opposite Magic Resort and the entrance to Choc Dee Resort at the far end of Klong Prao Beach, there’s a few welcoming Thai smiles in the cluster of beer bars, with Hunter Bar the pick of the bunch.
Perhaps the easiest way to get a good night out, though, is to simply hop in a songthaew taxi across to Kai Bae Beach or Lonely Beach, where you will be guaranteed a good time.
Klong Prao Beach Nightlife – Our Favourite Bars
On the Canal
At the northern end and accessed by following the street past Ramayana Resort, a relaxing terrace bar in a converted fisherman’s house. Cold beers, cocktails, shakes, kayaks, even some fishing. Live sports shown, good music.
On the Beach
At the southern end in the strip of three with Mandalay and Family, beach bar and restaurant serving usual Thai food and western choices with deck chairs out front. Nice spot in the evening and popular with those staying at The Dewa and Amari Resort. Open till late.
