UPDATED for 2019-20 Season
Klong Prao Beach nightlife is certainly not the centre of the Koh Chang party scene but there are still a few decent spots to hit.
At the northern end, Sapparot Bar and its neighbour, Moley’s are sweet spots on the canal, very relaxed and away from it all, both definitely worth a look.
At the southern end, Pilot Bar, one of the trio of beach bar restaurants near The Dewa and Emerald Cove, is great for a sundowner but open till late. And of course, those same resorts have their own happy hours for quality cocktails at not too exorbitant prices.
The French owned Alchemy, also at the southern end up by the road, is the hip bar of Klong Prao Beach, with mixology their speciality, a bistro style menu, good tunes and all round chilled atmosphere. In a different vein, there are a couple of other beer bars nearby including Lek’s, recently moved from Kai Bae Beach. Bosses, a popular little Swedish bar, is around the next corner.
The Macao Club at Emerald Cove also sometimes throws parties and as a hotel bar, makes for a nice change of scene.
Opposite Magic Resort and the entrance to Choc Dee Resort at the far end of Klong Prao Beach, there’s a few welcoming Thai smiles in the cluster of beer bars, with Hunter Bar the pick of the bunch.
For sports, try the newly openedNa Chung, just by the turning to Emeraldn Cove and Dewa at the southern end.

On the Canal
At the northern end and accessed by following the street past Ramayana Resort, a relaxing terrace bar in a converted fisherman’s house. Cold beers, cocktails, shakes, kayaks, even some fishing. Live sports shown, good music. Rooms too.
On the Beach
In the strip of three with Mandalay and Family, beach bar and restaurant, serving Thai and western food. Nice spot in the evening for sunsets and cocktails, popular with those staying at The Dewa and Emerald Cove. Open till late.
